I had great plans this week! I am in Melbourne, where it is not sunny, for a work conference. I arrived Monday night, checked in to the hotel and immediately got changed into my running gear. I felt so pious and good! I did Week 7 Run 1 of Couch to 5 km, which is 25 minutes of non-stop running plus 5 minutes either side for warm up and cool down walking. Great start, kudos to me! Actually, over the last few months I must have changed somewhat, perhaps thinner in the face or something, because quite a few of my interstate colleagues did not recognise me in my crazy gym clothes. Or perhaps it's just the clothes that were unexpected. I think they're used to the crazy part by now. Anyway, after completing my triumphant run, I came back to the hotel so I could get ready straight away for dinner out with the work team. I recall proudly announcing to all my team mates that I'd been out for a run, but really that's where the good behavior ends.
Over the course of the last few days, I have not been very good at adhering to my exercise regimen. Even right this minute (when I should be in the middle of Run 2 for the week) I have chosen instead to write about not being out running! Oh dear. I have to get back on track, it will have to be tomorrow night though. I am traveling home tomorrow and first chance at running will probably not be till the evening. I seem to be a little time poor. But there's still a chance of getting C25k Week 7 completed by Sunday, hooray!
Besides being terribly bad at balancing my exercise programme with the reality of a rah-rah conference, I have also been reasonably unsuccessful at good eating this week. The hotel I'm in was apparently notified of my vegan status, however it seems to remain blissfully unaware of what this means. I have had some strange meals at the buffet, for example, lettuce and balsamic vinegar dressing coupled with Cajun potatoes and vegetarian spring rolls with sweet chilli sauce. For lunch. I find myself craving something red. I wonder whether I'll grow fangs later tonight.
Well, the sun's just come out for the first time today. So I'm off to the bar. Happy Thursday, everyone.
